If you’re a food-lover (you better be) you’ll want to hit up Queen Victoria Market. As the largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere, this culture-packed landmark is a must-see. FILLED with the most delicious food and street performers, you’ll get a true taste for the Melbourne locals.

From Melbourne you can begin your trip along the Great Ocean Road. We took the “less scenic” route to Port Campbell to start, however, the acres and acres of farmland and wildlife was just as beautiful as the coast. From this point back to Melbourne we stopped every few miles at a new lookout point. There are countless opportunities to stop and stare in awe at the natural beauty. Check out Lorne, Erskine Falls, Apollo Bay, and the 12 Apostles, to start. We spent over 13 hours along the road and didn’t see nearly everything we wanted to.

From Melbourne you can also drive over to Phillip Island to watch the penguins come in from the ocean at night. This is an amazing experience and unlike anything you’ll see elsewhere. Hundreds of penguins slowly swim in at dusk and make their way onto the beach and into their little huts. Unfortunately pictures of the penguins aren't allowed (for conservation purposes) so here's a super sweet sunset image on the coast of the island.
